YOKOHAMA LANDMARK TOWER

Located in the Minato Mirai 21, the Yokohama Landmark Tower is the tallest building in Japan.With the height of 296m, it is also the symbol of Minato Mirai, which is a futuristic, new city area in Central Yokohama.

Completed in 1993, Yokohama Landmark Tower houses many offices, a hotel, restaurants, a shopping center and other community space. The building contains a hotel - Yokohama Royal Park Hotel, which occupies floors 49-70. The lower 48 floors are used as offices and retail. The building contains two tuned mass dampers on the (hidden) 71st floor on opposite corners of the buildings, designed to reduce sway.

Visitors can access to the building's observatory deck called "Sky Garden" on the 69th floor by means of the world's fastest elevator (750m per minute or 1 floor per second), reaching the 60th floor at the top in around 1 minute. Mind you, it was really really fast!

You have got to pay an entrance fee of 1000 yen before entering though.
