SHIBUYA

Quoted as one of the twenty-three city wards of Tokyo, Shibuya is a shopping and entertainment district situated in the west of Tokyo.

Vibrant, lively, fun, faddish, crowded, cramped, and busy, Shibuya is one of Tokyo's most colourful district and birthplace to many of Japan's fashion & entertainment trends. It has achieved great popularity among young people for the past thirty years.

Most of the area's large department and fashion stores belong to either Tokyu or Seibu , two competing corporations.

Shibuya is also famous for its large intersection crossing.Reportedly the world's busiest, it is located in front of Shibuya Station and uses a four-way stop to allow pedestrians to inundate the entire intersection.

It is heavily decorated by neon advertisements , billboards and giant video screens aiming to capture the attention of the amazingly large crowds of pedestrians each time the traffic light turns green.

Kat-Tun is the most popular group in Japan right now.

Shibuya 109 is the landmark for Shibuya and also a trend setting fashion complex for young women with more than one hundred boutiques on ten floors. Usually pronounced "Shibuya ichi maru kyu", the complex's name can also be read as "Shibuya to kyu", identifying the complex as part of the Tokyu Group.
